Women’s Basketball Dominates Eastern at The Bollman Center

Three Lions went for double digit points in what turned out to be one of their most convincing wins of the season.

READING, Pa. – Women's Basketball (9-10, 5-3 MAC Commonwealth) capped off a two game homestand against Eastern (7-12, 3-6 MAC Commonwealth). The Lions jumped out to an early lead in the first quarter and never looked back in what was their ninth win of the season.

Kenedy Cooper turned in a two-way masterclass by way of a game leading 20 points in addition to nine rebounds and five steals. Cooper would also go on to register a pair of blocks and repeatedly draw offensive fouls.

Rebounding was the biggest advantage for Albright as the Lions were able to out-rebound the Eagles 58-21 which led to 16 second chance points to just two for Eastern. Orianna Edmond brought in a game leading 11 rebounds while finishing with five blocks. Chrisdin Jones would also snag 10 rebounds of her own and finish with a double-double with 19 points of her own.

The Lions would enter halftime in firm control with a 38-24 lead over the Eagles. The Eagles as a team were held to under 30% shooting (28.8%) thanks to an all-around great defensive performance by Albright.

CJ Apistar did a little bit of everything and flirted with a double-double of her own with seven rebounds, six coming on the offensive end, with five assists and 10 points.

The team would go on to save their best quarter for the fourth quarter and outscored the Lions 20-5 and surrendered only one basket on 15 shots to cruise their way to a 75-44 victory.
