Volleyball Hosts Senior Night against Alvernia

The Lions returned home after a pair of matches on the road.

READING, Pa. – Volleyball (5-9, 0-5 MAC Commonwealth) returned home after nearly three weeks away to host their fellow Reading school Alvernia (9-6, 3-1 MAC Commonwealth). Following four sets of play, the Golden Wolves would leave with a road win over the Lions, 3-1.

Prior to the opening serve, the team took the time to honor graduating players Neve Straff, Laura Ordakowski, Paige Lipp, Samantha Lipp, Isabella Garay and Lucia Fernandez.

Neve Straff and Alexis Akwara led the way for the Lions each putting up double digit points and combined for 19 kills on the night.

As a team the Lions were all over the net recording 15 total blocks on the night. Laura Ordakowski led the team with six, while Anyah Carter and Lily Donovan each joined with multiple blocks of their own.

Set four came down to the wire with the Lions embarking on a 7-2 run to bring themselves within one (24-23) before the Golden Wolves closed out a much narrower match than the box score shows.

Paige Lipp put up another 19 assists and surpassed the mark of 600 for her career (613).
