Outstanding Comeback from Men’s Soccer Results in Draw against Eastern

Down, but not out, the Lions showed great heart in a conference match with Eastern.

WAYNE, Pa. – Men's Soccer (4-7-3, 0-4-2 MAC Commonwealth) played one of their final road games of the regular season against Eastern (7-3-4, 2-2-1 MAC Commonwealth). While things looked bleak early, the Lions rallied together resulting in a gutsy 3-3 tie with the Eagles.

All three of Eastern's goals came in the opening 20 minutes of play and seemingly built a commanding lead well before the first half concluded.

However, the Lions still had plenty of fight left in the tank beginning with Brady Divito scoring on a pass from Jose Serrano in the 33rd minute to put Albright on the board. Divito would find the back of the net yet again just under nine minutes later after converting a penalty kick to put the Lions within one at the half.

The lone goal of the second half would belong to the Lions in the form of Thayne Kahl scoring in the 59th minute off an assist from Gael Velazquez for his first career goal as a Lion.

Both Darwyn Avila and Zach Fratrik joined in on the offensive attack as the Lions kept up the pressure throughout the entire the game.

Ultimately, neither team would be able to score for the remainder of the game resulting in a draw courtesy of a comeback effort from a Lions team that refused to quit.

Mike Lawry finished the contest with seven saves in net. The junior goalkeeper made four stops in the second half, including a pair of saves in the final 10 minutes to keep the score deadlocked at three.
