Women’s Basketball Falls at Home to Widener

The Lions returned to the Bollman Center after a pair of games on the road.

READING, Pa. – Women's Basketball (9-13, 5-6 MAC Commonwealth) returned to their home court to host Widener (17-5, 8-3 MAC Commonwealth). Through 40 minutes of play, the Pride would wind up leaving with a 78-59 road win over the Lions.

A back and forth first quarter would see the Lions up 14-13 after 10 minutes of play. Chrisdin Jones led the way on offense by way of 14 points which included connecting on three of her five three-point attempts. Jones would also haul in a team high eight rebounds and tied two teammates for the lead in steals with three.

Following a competitive first quarter, the high-powered Widener offense would break through in the second frame to give the pride a 35-27 lead with the Lions still within striking distance.

Joining Jones with double digit points were Julia Zakovitch (11) and Kenedy Cooper (10) who each hit four baskets and combined to hit five of their six free-throws.

As a team the Lions forced 23 turnovers which included 11 steals with four players recording two or more. CJ Apistar and Camille McCaskell tied Jones for the lead with three apiece while Julia Parmelee also recorded a pair.

Orianna Edmond turned in a tough and physical defensive performance off the bench with six rebounds in addition to a block in 11 minutes of play.

Unfortunately for Albright, a 43 point second half from the Pride was enough to lift the visiting Widener over the Lions for their eighth conference win of the season.
