Mitchell Joins 1000 Point Club in Win Over Stevenson

The Lions played at Shirk Stadium for the second time in as many games to start their season.

READING, Pa. – Men's Basketball (15-9, 11-2 MAC Commonwealth) won their 11th straight game and completed a season sweep against Stevenson (11-13, 3-10 MAC Commonwealth). The win serves as their fourth conference sweep of the regular season and their seventh straight against the Mustangs. The 11 wins ties the 1944-45 team for the longest win streak in program history. The Lions will have a chance to set the new program record next time out against York.

Albright will host York College in the opening round of the 2026 MAC Commonwealth Championships. A start time for the contest is to be determined.

Qadir Mitchell led all scorers with 24 points including three made three-pointers to go along with four rebounds, three assists and a steal in 27 minutes. Mitchell's final shot etched him into the Albright record books allowing him to become the newest player in program history to surpass 1,000 career points. Mitchell joins 41 other Lions becoming the 42nd player in school history to reach the 1000 mark.

Dominating alongside Mitchell was Phanique Dupree who connected on seven of his nine shot attempts for 17 points while recording two blocks on the defensive end.

The Lions found momentum from the opening tip and never looked back which resulted in a 51-point first half explosion. Jeremiah Stanton contributed with a number of early buckets. Stanton finished with 13 points, four rebounds and four assists.

Miles Smith came up big off the bench with a team best five assists while recording a steal and scoring 11 points in 22 minutes to lead all Lions bench players.

In addition to a strong shooting night, Albright outrebounded Stevenson 36-24 with Chase McWhite adding to an 11-point performance with a team high five rebounds.

Following up their dominant first half, 44 points in the final 20 minutes was enough for Albright to eventually pull their starters and comfortably handle business in front of a packed Bollman Center by a score of 95-74.
