Women’s Lacrosse Cruises by Wilson 14-1 in Season Opener

Albright women’s lacrosse officially got their 2026 season underway on Saturday afternoon, downing Wilson College 14-1.

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Women's lacrosse (1-0) opened their 2026 season with a dominating road win over Wilson College (0-1) 14-1. The Lions built up their lead to 9-1 at halftime which ultimately saw them win comfortably.

Today's game was played at Shippensburg University with Wilson College serving as the host. The contest marked the opening game of the season for both teams.

Riley Basht wasted no time setting new career highs in goals and points for a game. Basht placed 14 of her 16 total shots on goal resulting in seven goals. The junior attacker added an assist to her stat line to finish the game with a career-high eight points which also led the Lions on the afternoon.

Albright scored four in the first period and five in the second period to build a comfortable lead after 30 minutes of game action. Wilson's lone goal of the contest came in the opening 15 minutes.

Olivia Ball scored three times for a hattrick marking the first time she has achieved three goals in a game as a Lion. Ball made an impact all over the field on Saturday, tallying four caused turnovers, four draw controls and three ground balls.

Paige Lipp, Samantha Lipp, Madison Wood and Zoe Dicks all scored for the Lions in a balanced offensive attack. Wood added two assists while P. Lipp and Dicks each added an assist of their own.

As a team the Lions finished with 28 total groundballs with Wood and Dicks tying for the team lead having six.

Kylee McCauley-Kriegsman started in goal for Albright making two saves to earn the win.

The Lions defense was suffocating all afternoon causing 20 turnovers as a team. 11 different Lions recorded at least one caused turnover throughout the 60 minutes of game time.
