READING, Pa. – Women's Basketball (9-12, 5-5 MAC Commonwealth) traveled to play their cross-town rival Alvernia (11-10, 6-4 MAC Commonwealth) on Saturday afternoon. Through 40 minutes of physical play, the Lions fell to the Golden Wolves by a score of 77-68.
Kenedy Cooper led the Lions with 19 points off the bench including three makes from downtown in 35 minutes of play. Cooper contributed on the defensive end with three steals and a block.
Tying Cooper with three threes of her own was
Julia Parmelee who finished with a career best 17 points. Parmelee would wind up with five offensive rebounds and three assists in an all around solid effort.
Halftime saw the Lions entering the locker room facing a 42-33 deficit looking to increase their intensity on both sides of the ball.
The Lions narrowly outscored Alvernia in the third quarter due largely impart to the two-way effort from
Orianna Edmond who ended with a double-double via 12 points and a team best 10 rebounds in 26 minutes with three blocks.
Throughout the game Albright was able to capitalize on second chance opportunities out rebounding the Golden Wolves on the offensive end 21-17.
CJ Apistar played all 40 minutes recording an efficient 12 points while making five of her eight shots along with four rebounds.
Ultimately a solid all-around performance would fall short in the form of a nine-point defeat as Alvernia evened up the season series.
