HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Men's lacrosse (3-4) went on the road on Saturday afternoon and beat Juniata (1-6) 16-9. The win improves the Lions road record to 2-0 this season. Over the last two games Albright has outscored their opponents 34-16 giving them back-to-back wins.
Goals were hard to come by in the opening 30 minutes as the two teams scored four goals each.
Derek Hanson tallied two first half goals to pace the Lions offense.
The third quarter was the difference in today's game as the Lions scored seven in the frame to give them a comfortable 11-5 heading into the games final 15 minutes.
Juniata would bring the game back within three (11-8) at the 10:16 mark of the fourth. The Lions would then score five of the games' last six goals in a dominating second half to secure the victory.
Brady Etzkorn has found a groove in recent games making 12 saves today. Over his last two games Etzkorn has made 23 saves giving himself back-to-back wins as the Albright goalie.
Justin Moroney led the Lions attack with five goals and an assist for six points. Moroney scored in three of the four quarters during today's contest.
Aidan Graczyk had one of his best days as a collegiate player setting new career highs in goals (4), assists (3) and points (7). Graczyk took eight total shots, placing seven of them on frame.
Nick Antonio was setting up his teammates all day long to the tune of four assists. Antonio finished tied for second on the team with six points adding two goals.
Hanson finished with three goals while
Nate Howe and
Semaj Moyd each scored once for the Lions.
As a team Albright placed 33 of their 44 total shots on goal.
Howe, Antonio,
Malachi Moyd and
Kamar Daniels were all active defensively each causing three caused turnovers. The team combined for 17 caused turnovers, seeing eight different Lions cause at least one turnover.
