VERO BEACH, Fl. - Albright Baseball (2-1) continued its Spring Break trip against Wilkes (2-3) on Monday afternoon. The Colonials would be able to get the best over the Lions through nine innings of action in the Florida sun winning 7-3.Â
Albright jumped out to a two run lead in the top of the first thanks to a bases loaded double from Anthony Knight. Knight would also collect a double later in the game.Â
Wilkes responded with four runs of their own in the bottom of the second to take a 4-2 lead.Â
Nathan Golden helped cut the lead to one in the top of fourth on an RBI single. Golden also drew a walk and stole a base in his four plate appearances on the day.Â
Michael Avino had a solid day for the Lions and collecting two hits and a run scored. Chris Gorla, John Pecoraro and Christian Eckstein all had one base hit.Â
Steven Bright was called upon out of the Lion bullpen and was excellent in his collegiate debut. Bright pitched a solid three innings only allowing two runs. Wayne Hudson followed him out of the pen and dealt three and a third innings of one run ball on three hits.Â
Wilkes was able to shut down the Albright offense for the remaining innings to win the contest.Â
