READING, Pa. – Baseball (3-1) took on Capital (7-1) in day three of their Florida Spring Break trip. Following nine innings of play, the Lions would hand Capital their first loss of the season by a score of 5-2.
The Comets scored the game's first run in the top of the first before
Christian Eckstein drove in
Plyler Hunter the following inning to tie the game 1-1. Eckstein finished the day with a walk to get on base twice in his three plate appearances.
Capital retook the lead in the third inning and kept the Lions off the board until the fifth where a pair of Lion runs gave them a 3-2 lead.
Tommy Lewman scored following a throwing error before
Tyler Boccelli drove in
Chris Gorla. Lewman ended up on base four times via a pair of walks and hits while Boccelli recorded two hits of his own.
Albright would add insurance runs in the sixth and eighth innings by way of a
Nathan Golden single and
Luke Filliben sacrifice fly.
As a team the Lions recorded both nine hits and walks and only struck out three times in 31 at bats.
John Pecoraro showed excellent plate discipline and drew three walks.
CJ Easler and
Landyn Shaw combined for 6.1 shutout innings in relief which included seven strikeouts and allowed only four base runners. Easler picked up his first collegiate win in his first appearance while Shaw earned his first collegiate save.

The Lions will enjoy an off day tomorrow before returning to action on Friday (3/6) to play against University of Northwestern (MN) at 1:00 p.m. and Lebanon Valley at 4 p.m.
