Softball Continues Conference Play against York

The Lions moved into the latter half of a lengthy homestand and hosted the Spartans.

READING, Pa. – Softball (7-7, 1-3 MAC Commonwealth) hosted York (8-1, 3-1 MAC Commonwealth) for their second conference series of the season. Following 14 innings of play, the visiting Spartans would take both games by scores of 13-3 and 8-4. 
 
Game 1:
 
Slaydon Fisher narrowly missed a homer on a deep double to centerfield to drive in the first run of the game. 
 
The Lions consistently threatened throughout the game and were patient at the plate in the form of 11 walks. Juliette Licata drew four walks in game one in addition to an RBI single in the seventh inning. 
 
Also having a perfect game one at the plate was Adriana Buonacore who went three for three and picked up a walk of her own. 
 
Emma Massie singled to left field to score the first of two seventh inning runs for the Lions to score Sadie Gonzalez
 
Game 2:
 
After Alexis Laboy got things started with an RBI single, the Spartans answered with five of their own to hold a 5-1 lead after the top of the fifth. 
 
Grace Landante helped spark the offense with a deep double to centerfield to score a pair of runs and bring the Lions within striking distance (5-3). Landante would also come around to score in the seventh off of a double from Katie Behler for her second hit of the day. 
 
Licata drew another three walks and recorded a hit to end the day on base nine times over the course of two games. 
 
Up Next:
 
The Lions will host Marywood on Monday (3/23) with game one beginning at 3:00 pm.
