Game Recap: Softball |

Softball Travels for Pair of Games against Gwynedd Mercy

The Lions went on the road for the first time in over two weeks to battle the Griffins.

GWYNEDD MERCY, Pa. – Albright Softball (7-9) went on the road after a lengthy stay at home to face Gwynedd Mercy (5-10). Following a Griffin victory in game one, game two was called due to darkness with Gwynedd Mercy ending the day in the form of a sweep.

Game 1:

Both offenses went back and forth in the opening game where a combined 18 runs were scored on 18 total hits.

After the Griffins scored the game's first three runs, Sadie Gonzalez got the Lions on the board with a single to right field to score Grace Landante

Gwynedd Mercy would tally five more runs over the next two innings and were seemingly running away with game one before the Lions responded with their best inning. Kaitlin Mulry would bring in two of five fourth inning Lions' runs.

Landante and Mya Frana would combine for the other three RBIs in the fourth making the score 9-6 still in favor of the Griffins.

The Lions again threatened in the seventh inning with their backs against the wall and scored off RBI hits from Isabella Cummings and Juliette Licata before the Griffins would eventually close things out with the winning run at the plate by a score of 10-8.

Game 2:

The Lions started out the scoring in game two with a pair of runs in the third inning. Gonzalez took advantage of a wild pitch before Juliette scored on a fielding error.

Frana came through once again in the fourth inning with a sacrifice fly to center field scoring Kaitlin Mulry

Unfortunately for Albright, the Griffins offense would finally breakthrough in the fifth with four runs of their own to take the lead over the Lions before the game was called shortly after.

As a team the Lions drew five walks and only struck out twice in a day where they were very selective and efficient at the plate.

Up Next:

The Lions will play three double headers on the road beginning with Eastern on Saturday (3/28). Game one is set for 1:00 pm.
