Softball Splits Doubleheader against Eastern

The Lions dropped the first game of today’s doubleheader but responded in the second game of the day to split the weekend series against Eastern.

ST. DAVID'S, Pa. – Softball (8-10, 2-4 MAC Commonwealth) split today's Sunday doubleheader against the Eastern Eagles (13-5, 4-2 MAC Commonwealth) winning game two of the doubleheader. The win in game two breaks an eight-game losing streak to Eastern.

Game 1: L, 8-0

Emily Trzonkowski from Eastern was able to stifle the Albright bats to pick up her eighth win of the season.

Mya Frana collected the Lion hit via a single. Frana is new to the Lions this year and has a hit in nine games this season including four such games with multiple hits.

Despite game one today, the Lions bats have been solid all season long. Heading into game two Albright is batting .303 as a team. Albright's lineup features eight batters that currently own a .300 average or higher

Game 2:

The Lions struck first in game two plating a run in the first inning. After the first two batters of the game reached for the Lions, Katie Behler singled up the middle to put Albright up 1-0.

In the third inning, Albright would increase their lead to 3-1. A Juliette Licata walk, an Adriana Buonacore and Behler single loaded the bases with no outs. Madison Lasko came through with two hits sending home Licata and Buonacore on a single to right field.

Eastern would get a run back in the home half of the third inning to make it 3-2 in favor of the Lions.

With the scoreline of 3-2 still holding, the Lions looked to shut the door in the bottom of the seventh inning. The first two batters of the inning would reach base for Eastern but Gabriella Weiss retired the next three batters to send Albright home with the win.

Weiss pitched all seven innings earning her fifth win of the season. The sophomore scattered five hits across the seven innings to help Albright to a conference victory.

Licata and Behler combined for four of the Lions six hits. Behler recorded an RBI while Licata tallied two runs and a walk.

Buonacore and Behler rounded out the hits for Albright.
