READING, Pa. – Albright Baseball (10-7-1, 3-6 MAC Commonwealth) returned home to cap off a conference series with Eastern (16-7, 5-4 MAC Commonwealth). Following 18 innings of play, the visiting Eagles would take both games.
Game 1:
Tommy Lewman started the scoring for the Lions in the sixth inning via a base hit up the middle to drive in
Michael Avino to cut into the Eastern lead (2-1). Avino would go on to finish game one with two hits in five at bats.
Joining Avino with multiple hits was
John Pecoraro who picked up a pair in three at bats.
With the Lions in do or die mode in the seventh,
Thomas Aulisi advanced to third on a wild pitch before coming around to score on a throwing error the same play to tie the game at 2-2.
After the seventh, neither team would break through again until Eastern scored the game's final run the top of 11
th to finish of a 3-2 victory in game one.
Josh Tudor recorded seven strikeouts to just one walk and held the Eastern offense to only six hits in nine innings of work.
Game 2:
The Lions fought back once again after Eastern built up and early lead. Albright scored a pair in the fourth with
Luke Filliben driving in Avino with a sacrifice fly.
Tyler Boccelli followed suit with an RBI single to bring in
Chris Gorla.
As a team the Lions once again produced many quality at bats with eight combined hits in addition to four walks.
Pecoraro would reach on a fielder's choice in the sixth allowing Filliben to score and cut further into the Eagles' lead (6-3).
As the Lions once again threatened in the seventh inning, Gorla singled to left to bring home
Tommy Lewman to bring the tying run to the plate.
