OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Men's Tennis (8-4, 1-0 MAC Commonwealth) opened conference play on Saturday afternoon traveling across state lines to take on the Stevenson Mustangs (2-5, 0-1 MAC Commonwealth). The Lions handled the Mustangs beating them by a final score of 7-0.
The Lions handled business in their first conference match of the season. The win marks the third straight shutout victory for Albright.
Renato Orsi got the job done at #1 singles playing three sets to win his match. Orsi won the first set 7-5 before dropping the second set 6-4. The first-year Lion responded in the third and final set winning the set 6-4 and ultimately the match.
Orsi has won each of his last four matches all coming playing as the Lions #1.
Matias Contreras's match also went to three sets. Contreras dropped the first set 4-6 and won the second set 6-4. The third set was all Contreras as he won the set 6-1 to secure the match win at #2 singles. The first-year Lion has won back-to-back matches.
Marcelo Menchaca was dominant in #3 singles, winning his match 6-2, 6-0.
Enrico Pucci played a similar match as Menchaca's, also winning 6-2, 6-0.
Leonardo Russo Gispert made quick work of his opponent in #5 singles winning 6-4, 6-2.
Dylan Huha got the job done in #6 singles winning his match 6-1, 6-0.
All three doubles matches went to the Lions. Orsi and Pucci won 6-2 in #1 doubles, Menchaca and
Esteban Vallejo won 6-2 in #2 doubles and Contreras and Russo Gispert won easily in #3 doubles, 6-1.
