READING, Pa. – Men's Lacrosse (1-4) returned to Shirk Stadium to host the Husson Eagles (2-0). Following four quarters of physical play, five Lions would find the back of the net in what turned out to be a 12-11 road victory for the Eagles.
Justin Moroney scored the game's first goal after just two minutes of play to give the Lions an early lead. Moroney would finish the game with a game best six points including four goals. Moroney's final goal would serve as his 100
th career point.
Kraig Sullivan and
Aidan Graczyk would also score in the opening frame allowing the Lions to end the first quarter with a 3-1 lead.
After the Eagles found their stride in the second quarter,
Semaj Moyd and
Nick Antonio would score along with Moroney to cut the Eagles lead to one (7-6) at halftime.
Both teams would trade blows the entirety of the second half with big time goals and clutch defensive plays.
Kamar Daniels,
Garrett Valentine and
Brandon Jones all found consistent involvement on defense and combined for four caused turnovers.
After a
Semaj Moyd goal tied the game (11-11) with a little over six minutes to go, neither team would score again until the Eagles found the back of the net for the winning goal with eight seconds left on the clock.
Brady Etzkorn started in goal and made 12 saves in addition to recovering a number of ground balls to keep the Lions in the game until the final whistle.
