READING, Pa. – Men's Lacrosse (2-4) took to the field against Neumann (0-5) following a weather delay. After the Knights seized momentum early, the Lions stormed back in tail end of the first quarter to catapult them to a 18-7 win.
Justin Moroney scored the game's first goal of an assist from Aidan Gracyk just over five minutes into the first quarter.
After the Knights responded with three straight goals, Graczyk and
Nick Antonio scored three unanswered goals to give the Lions a 4-3 lead after the opening frame. Antonio would have a day to remember and finished with a career best in both points (10) and goals (8) while Graczyk accounted for three total points of his own.
Moroney's second goal of the day came in the final minutes of the first half and allowed the Lions to enter the locker room with a 7-5 lead. Moroney would also end the night with a new career high in goals with seven.
The Lions dominated the third quarter and outscored Neumann 6-2 to take a 13-7 lead into the fourth quarter.
Kraig Sullivan accounted for two of his team high four assists in the third and set up his teammates with quality opportunities the entire night.
After seizing all momentum in the third, an outstanding defensive effort saw the Lions shutout the Knights in the fourth quarter while tacking on five more goals for good measure.
Derek Hanson and
Semaj Moyd each found themselves involved with late goals.
Nate Howe helped set the tone on defense with three caused turnovers and recovered four ground balls.
Brady Etzkorn recorded 11 saves in net and picked up his second with of the season in convincing fashion.
