READING, Pa. – Women's Lacrosse (7-4, 1-0 MAC Commonwealth) returned home for their first conference game of the season against Alvernia (2-9, 0-1 MAC Commonwealth). Following four quarters of play, the Lions played the game at their pace and ended the night with a 12-8 victory.
Paige Lipp scored the game's first goal just over two minutes into the opening quarter to put the Lions out front early. Lipp ended the day with a team best five points including an efficient three goals on four shots.
Joining Lipp with three goals was
Riley Basht who moves to 42 goals in 11 games this season in addition to securing a pair of draw controls.
The Lions entered halftime with an 8-4 lead after dominating on both ends of the field. As a team the Lions forced 13 turnovers with
Kaila Clark leading the way with five.
Madison Wood capped off the third quarter with her team best fourth goal of the day. Wood was a two-way force and forced a pair of turnovers while securing a team best five draw controls.
Also turning in a stellar performance on both ends was
Zoe Dicks who dished out four of the team's eight assists while also contributing with three caused turnovers and three draw controls.
Kylee McCauley-Kriegsman earned the win in goal and made six saves in addition to recovering a number of key ground balls to break up numerous scoring chances for Alvernia.
