Women’s Tennis Rolls by York 7-0

The Lions women’s tennis team kept their perfect MAC Commonwealth mark in tact on Saturday afternoon by beating York 7-0 on their home courts.

READING, Pa. – Women's tennis (10-3, 3-0) won their sixth straight match overall and third straight in conference play by beating York (3-7, 1-2 MAC Commonwealth) 7-0 on their home courts.

The win today is the 16th straight for Albright within the MAC Commonwealth. The last loss for the Lions in conference play came all the way back in the spring of 2023.

Albright faced a little bit more of a challenge today than they have become accustomed to. Albright took all six singles matches seeing most of them turn out to be hard fought wins.

Nadia Margaritov won the first set 6-3 and was able to win the second set 7-5 at #1 singles. Michelle Timothy cruised in the first set winning 6-1 and pulled out the overall match win with a 7-5 win in the second set in #2 singles.

Elicia Aponte's match went the distance going three sets. Aponte took the first set 6-0 before dropping the second set 4-6. The third and final set went to Aponte winning 6-1 to take the match playing in #3 singles.

Allison Horick's match also went three sets. Horick dropped the first set and then rebounded to win the second set 6-3 and then the third set 10-3. Horick played as the Lions #4 today.

Alaina Smith won in #5 singles 6-2, 6-4 and was followed by Daniela Diez who won 6-1, 6-2 in #6 singles.

The Lions took two of three doubles matches to earn the team point to preserve the shutout.

Aponte and Timothy dominated in #1 doubles, winning 6-1. Diez and Margaritov brought home the team doubles point winning 6-0.
