READING, Pa. – Women's tennis (12-3, 4-0 MAC Commonwealth) had one of their best days of the year beating Eastern (3-10, 1-2 MAC Commonwealth) 7-0 on their home courts. The win officially clinched a playoff berth for the Lions.
Prior to the start of today's match, the Lions honored
Michelle Timothy as the team's lone senior.
Albright is headed back to the postseason for the third consecutive year. The previous two years the Lions have won the MAC Commonwealth crown and are now looking for a three-peat.
The team can finish no worse than the two seed in the Commonwealth. Albright's next match is against Messiah. The winner of next week's match will earn the number one seed throughout the playoffs.
Today, the Lions enjoyed one of their most dominant wins of the season. Across the six singles matches the Lions only dropped two total games.
Five of the six singles matches went to Albright with the scoreline 6-0. Timothy,
Elicia Aponte,
Allison Horick,
Alaina Smith and
Daniela Diez all won without dropping a single game.
Nadia Margaritov cruised her number one singles match winning 6-1, 6-1.
Doubles play was more of the same for the Lions. Timothy and Aponte won 6-3 in number one doubles.
Horick and Smith combined for a 6-0 win in number two doubles while Margaritov and Diez won by the same scoreline in number three doubles.

The Lions will head to Messiah for the right to be the number one seed in the upcoming MAC Commonwealth playoffs. The match will take place on Wednesday, April 22 at 3:30 p.m. The first round of the MAC playoffs is set for Wednesday, April 29.
