GRANTHAM, Pa. – Women's tennis (12-4, 4-1 MAC Commonwealth) concluded their regular season on Wednesday afternoon against the Messiah Falcons (10-5, 4-0 MAC Commonwealth) on the road. Messiah took the match 5-2.
The Lions suffered their first conference loss since April of 2023. From then until now the Lions won 17 straight Commonwealth matches.
Despite the loss the Lions are still well positioned in the upcoming playoffs. When the playoffs begin next week, Albright will be the #2 seed and host the #3 seed York College Spartans. The time for the semifinal match is yet to be determined.
Albright picked up wins in #4 singles and #5 singles.
Allison Horick won today in straight sets winning set one 6-4 and set two 7-6 (7-5). In her two seasons playing for Albright, Horick has yet to lose a conference match, being a steady force in the lineup.
Alaina Smith wrapped up a perfect mark in conference play this season with a convincing 6-3, 6-0 win. Smith has won her last nine matches overall with eight of the nine wins coming in straight sets.
