NEWTOWN, Pa. - On Thursday afternoon the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) released the All-MAC Academic teams for men's and women's tennis.
Elicia Aponte and
Allison Horick received the honor on the women's side while
Dylan Huha and
Marcelo Menchaca were named to the team on the men's side.
The Spring Academic All-MAC teams recognize the top student-athletes both in the classroom and in athletic competition during the 2026 spring semester. The MAC sports information directors nominate and vote for the Academic All-MAC teams, giving 50 percent weight on both academic success and athletic success. A student athlete must have a fall semester grade-point average (GPA) of 3.20 or higher to be eligible for the award.
For both Horick and Huha it marks the second straight season being named Academic All-MAC.
Horick went 13-3 this season and now has a 28-3 overall record across two seasons for the Lions. In her two seasons at Albright Horick has won two MAC Commonwealth Championships and has been named to the All-Conference Team twice and was named Rookie of the Year during her first-year.
Aponte wrapped up her junior season making an All-MAC Team for the third consecutive year. Aponte has improved her game each year since arriving on campus, being an All-MAC Honorable Mention in 2024 and back-to-back years of being named to the Second Team. In the 2025-2026 season, Aponte went 11-5 overall which included a stretch of eight straight victories to eventually help the Lions claim their third straight MAC Commonwealth crown.
Menchaca was flawless this season, ending his year with a perfect 13-0 record in singles play. Of the 13 wins 11 of them came in straight sets.
Huha went 9-2 this season with eight of the nine wins coming in straight sets. Huha was dominant in the MAC Championship match winning 6-4, 6-0. Huha's match was the Commonwealth title clincher and was named MAC Commonwealth Tournament MVP for his efforts.
Both Menchaca and Huha were instrumental in helping the men's tennis team make their first ever NCAA Tournament appearance while winning the MAC Commonwealth championship for the first time since 1998.
