MADISON, N.J. – Football (2-0) took care of business in their road and conference debut against FDU-Florham (0-2). Through two games this season, the Lions have outscored their opponents 74-24.
Chase Roberts threw for a career best 339 yards and tied a career best with three touchdown passes. Roberts' senior season is off to a strong start with already five touchdown passes and is averaging over three yards (307.5) passing in two games.
Following a Devil's field goal,
DeAndre Clemons scored the game's first touchdown courtesy of a 15-yard dash to cap off a nine-play drive. Clemons finished the day with 81 total yards including a 59-yard reception which was good for the longest play of the game.
The Lions would find the endzone three more times in the first half which included two from
Logan Rothberg. Rothberg eclipsed the century mark for the first time in his career with a team leading 104 yards on just five catches. Both of the senior's scores came in the final minute of the first and second quarter.
Kadan Smith put up the longest score of the day for Albright in the form of a 53-yard touchdown reception and finished with 205 yards from scrimmage. The sophomore transfer is currently firing on all cylinders with 312 total yards of offense on the young season.
Albright's defense found themselves in the backfield for seven sacks including three from
Nasir Ward which is the most in a single game for any player since the 2017 season.
Darien Osmun recorded his second sack of the season while forcing and recovering a fumble on the same play.
Also forcing a turnover was
Juan DeJesus in the form of the sophomore's first career interception and the first interception of the season for the Lions. DeJesus finished with four tackles including a sack.
Tying for the team lead with seven tackles were
James Evans and
James Lee who found themselves involved in some way for almost every play. Evens' three pass breakups were a game high.
The physical and mental domination on both ends of the ball allowed the Lions to hold on for a comfortable 30-17 win to best the Devils for the second time in as many seasons.
