READING, Pa. - On a day where a score and statistics really did not mean that much the Albright Volleyball team and the Crusaders of Alvernia University participated in the 2nd annual Rally for a Cure game to benefit breast cancer research and awareness. The event which has already raised over $15,000 saw the Lady Lions earn their final victory of the regular season, as they defeated Alvernia 3-0 in the Bollman Center.
Throughout the year, the red and white have been raising money for their annual event and along with Alvernia University put on a great match for their pink fans in the stands. In game one, the Lions earned a 25-10 victory. That win was then followed up with a 25-18 win in game two and a 25-16 win in the finale.
Albright, who was in hot pink uniforms for the event combined for 22 kills on 75 attempts. They also posted 15 service aces and totaled 31 digs on defense. A variety of players made stepped on the court in the regular season finale. Amongst the top performers was #Alexa Jones# who scored five kills on 13 attempts.
Junior #Lauren Higgins# posted 12 set assists and had a match high three aces along with senior #Christina Yatron#. #Meg Wheeler# made her presence felt scoring four kills and also had one block as well.
#Casey McFadden# appeared in two games on Thursday and recorded six digs and two aces to help the Lions cause.
The Lions close out their regular season with their first winning record (15-14/2-5 Commonwealth) since the 2003 season (18-14). Albright will now wait to see if they have earned a place in this year's ECAC Tournament, which will be announced the week of November 9th.
