David Folino# the Lions (5-4-2) were able to overcome a 1-0 deficit in the second half to earn a 2-1 victory over the visiting Chargers of Lancaster Bible College (8-4) Saturday evening at Shirk Stadium.
After trailing 1-0 just five minutes into the match, Folino managed take full advantage of a loose ball in the Charger's goal box to even the score at 1-1 just one minute into the second half. DeSanto then made it a 2-1 ball game after a #
Mark Yost# direct kick deflected off a defender and landed perfectly on DeSanto's foot. The Reading, Pa. native redirected the ball past the goalkeeper to give the red and white the lead and the win.
Lancaster's early and lone goal came from Cory Greiser after he received a through ball from Zak Kraehmer which sent him on a break away. Greiser managed to sneak the ball past Albright goalkeeper #
Ryan Barr# to give his team the early 1-0 lead.
Barr, who was named the Commonwealth Conference Goalkeeper of the Week last week, picked up his third straight win of his very young career. The freshman tallied four saves in the win and faced just 10 shots from the Chargers.
Albright's offense tallied 18 shots, 7 of which were on target. Saturday's match was also a very physical one as the two teams combined for 29 fouls and four yellow cards respectively.
The Lions did lead the match in corner kicks with six, while Lancaster Bible tallied five of their own.
Men's Soccer returns to action on Wednesday when they host Rutgers-Newark at 6:30 p.m. in Shirk Stadium in non-conference action.
