Swimming Soars Past Falcons in Conference Meet

GRANTHAM, Pa. - The Lions swimmers continued their winning ways Saturday afternoon defeating the Falcons of Messiah College in both the men's and women's competitions. A total of 19 first place finishes were recorded by both teams.

Staring with the men's team they took a solid first place finish in the 200 medley relay to start the afternoon. The team of Sean Zajdel, Jordan Hash, Matt O'Neill, and Adam Kurtz dominated the water and posted a time of 1:43.73.

Eric Kramer tallied another win this time in the very long 1,650 free with a time of 17:12.76. Kurtz took the water for the second time in the 200 free and recorded a first place time of 1:52.36.

Junior Chris Sheerer was another first place finisher on Saturday with a time of 2:02.27 in the 200 IM, which was then followed up with a Kurtz first place finish in the 100 fly (54.61). Kramer took first in the 100 free (49.33) and Sheerer claimed the top time in the 100 back.

To close out the individual competitions Hash tallied a first place time of 1:04.22 in the 100 breast, and the 200 free relay team of Zajdel, Jack Kubacki, Sheerer and Kramer ended the afternoon for the Lions with a top time of 1:30.32.

Switching over to the women's meet the Lady Lions proved dominant yet again from start to finish. In every single event, the red and white earned first place, starting with 200 medley relay. The team of Aimee Snyder, Karissa Keller, Madison Hauk, and Katy Oeste finished with a time of 1:57.57 getting Albright off to a great start.

Kelly Williams then added to Albright's lead with her first place finish in the 1,650 free (19:39.69). In the 200 free, the top three finishes in the even all belonged to Albright starting with Snyder (2:07.42), followed by Amanda Fisher (2:14.23), and finally Rebecca Woskoff (2:19.79).

Allie Fies earned a very quick first place finish in the 50 free with a time of 26.22, which was then followed up by a first place finish in the 200 IM by Keller (2:24.20).

Hauk soared through the water in the 100 fly and earned a time of 1:03.58. Continuing the Lions winning ways was Oeste in the 100 free (56.55) and Snyder in the 100 back (1:04.33).

Swimming will return to the water on Friday, December 4th when they take part in the Swarthmore College Invitational.
