READING, PA - In their final conference meet of 2008, the Albright Women's Swim team kept their undefeated streak alive defeating the Falcons of Messiah College by the score of 150-92 Saturday afternoon the Albright College Natatorium.
Saturday's meet also marked the first ever meeting between the Lady Lions and the Falcons.
On the day the Lady Lions made it a clean sweep of all 28 events starting with a decisive victory in the 200 yard medley relay. The team of
Aimee Snyder (Reading, PA/Muhlenberg), Kathryn Oeste (Kennett Square, PA/Unionville), Tara McAdams (Phoenixville, PA/Great Valley), and Allison Fies (Reading, PA/Muhlenberg) earned a combined time of 1:57.41 to defeat their closest Messiah opponent by almost five seconds.
Adrienne Peoples (Wilmington, DE/Brandywine) continued her strong performance in the 1,000 yard freestyle taking first overall with a time of 11:16.91. Messiah's Kara Geiman closed out the event in second with a final time of 12:58.63.
Sophomores Lauren Onusko (Winstead, CT/The Gilbert School) and Kelly Williams (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Ryan) finished in first and second place respectively in the 200 yard freestyle. Onusko led the event with a time of 2:07.27, with Williams finishing just three seconds behind her teammate.
The other Williams sister Jess, made quick work of the 50 yard backstroke finishing the event with a time of 31.71 to earn the nine points. On the day Jess Williams earned top finishes in a total of three events as she closed out the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:14.78 and the 200 yard IM with a time of 2:19.50.
In her first appearance in the 50 yard breaststroke Oeste took to the water like a seasoned veteran earning her first top finish ever in the event with a final time of 32.52. McAdams went on to take first in the 100 yard butterfly defeating Messiah's Sara Steinnagel by more than three seconds.
Throughout the afternoon, Albright had at least two swimmers finish in the top three spots in every single event. The Lady Lions sealed the victory with another decisive victory in the final relay event as the four swimmers earned a combined time of 8:25.69 to take the 800 yard freestyle event.
Albright Women's Swimming returns to action on Tuesday, December 2nd when they take on the Cavaliers of Cabrini College in a non-conference meet which is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
