NEWTOWN, Pa. – Laurel Gingrich is a three-sport athlete at Albright College excelling in field hockey, women's swimming and track and field. On Friday afternoon, Gingrich was named 2023-24 Winter MAC Senior Scholar-Athlete in women's swimming, as announced by the Middle Atlantic Conference on Friday afternoon.
The award recognizes one student-athlete from each of the nine winter sports that display strong academic and athletic prowess. Gingrich makes it back to back Winter MAC Scholar-Athletes for Albright after Gabby Boggs was named Winter MAC Scholar-athlete in 2022-23 in women's basketball.

Laurel Gingrich is a three-sport athlete at Albright College excelling in field hockey, women's swimming and track and field.
The Pool is where Gingrich shines the brightest. The standout swimmer form Gilford, N.H. has complied multiple MAC Individual swimming championships and has numerous top 10 fastest times in program history. In addition to the on the field and in the pool success, Gingrich excels in the classroom boasting a 4.0 GPA being named to the All-MAC Honor Roll and Academic All-MAC teams four times each.
Gingrich owns four top 10 fastest time records in Albright history is three different events. In the 50-yard freestyle, Gingrich has the second fastest time of 24.27 coming in 2022. Also, in 2022 Gingrich swam to the second fastest time in the 100-yard freestyle finishing in 52.99. In the 200-yard freestyle, Gingrich owns two top 10 records including one this season. Gingrich turned in the sixth fastest time with a time of 1:56.73 this season. In 2022, Gingrich recorded the eighth fastest time of 1:56.73.
In the MAC Championships, Gingrich got even better finding herself on the podium 18 total times over four years. Gingrich finished third through eighth on six different occasions while earning two bronze medals, six silver medals and four gold medals. The gold medals came in the 50, 100 and 200 yard-freestyles. At the 2023 MAC Championships, Gingrich won the 100 and 200-yard freestyle and followed up the success with more success at the 2024 MAC Championships winning the 50-yard freestyle and the 200-yard freestyle again.
Additionally, at the 2023 MAC Championships, Gingrich earned MAC Swimmer of the Year Honors. Gingrich finished with 92 total individual points to be named MAC Swimmer of the Year. Gingrich is the first recipient of the David B. Eavenson Swimmer of the Year (MAC Swimmer of the Year) award since 2008 (Rachel Cantwell) for Albright.
Gingrich is a Fashion and Communications major and is set to graduate from Albright College in May of 2024.
