WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Lady Lions (5-10) made quick work of their two Freedom Conference opponents in the first-ever MAC Crossover Tournament as they defeated King's College and Misericordia University by the final score of 3-0, Saturday afternoon at Lycoming College's Lamade Gymnasium.
In their first match against the Cougars of Misericordia, the red and white powered right past their opponents with 25-18, 25-15, and 25-19 wins. Sophomore #
Alyssa Hoogendoorn# led the team with a double-double of 10 kills and 10 digs. She also added three blocks to her line as well.
Senior #
Danielle Ozment# finished second on the team in kills with nine, and finished second on the team in digs with 12. #
Casey McFadden# was the top defensive player for Albright in their first match as she tallied 17 digs. Setter #
Lauren Higgins# tallied 21 assists in the win and with her 24 assists in the win over King's ranks in the top-5 all-time for assists in a career.
To date Higgins currently sits 172 assists away from tying the program record of 2,326 assists, which was set in 2005.
Moving into their second match of the day, the red and white once again dominated their non-conference opponents recording 25-13, 25-21, and 25-16 wins. Ozment along with #
Laura van Bendegem# led the offense with a combined 21 kills respectively. #
Alexa Jones# and McFadden were even 10 digs each. Ozment also added five aces as well in the Lions shutout victory.
Volleyball returns to action on Tuesday when they host Arcadia University at 7 p.m. in the Bollman Center.
