READING, Pa. – The Albright volleyball team (10-16/3-4 CC) closed out their 2010 season in winning fashion, as they handed local rival Alvernia University (7-13/2-5 CC) a 3-0 Commonwealth Conference loss Wednesday evening. The red and white defeated the Crusaders 25-13, 25-23, and 25-23.
Leading Albright in her final collegiate match was
Danielle Ozment who recorded a double-double of 14 kills and 11 digs. The senior hitter was charged with only three attack errors on her 34 attempts to end the match with a team-high .324 hitting percentage.
Classmate
Lauren Higgins also ended her career in top form, as she tallied 31 assists to lead the Lions offense. With Wednesday's total, Higgins ends her four-years at Albright with 2,478 career assists, which stands a program best.
Also lead the Lions was
Alyssa Hoogendoorn who scored nine kills to close out her sophomore campaign.
Morgan Heath,
Kelly Nicodemus, and Higgins each finished second on the team in digs with five.
Ozment and Hoogendoorn combined for six blocks respectively, while Albright as a whole recorded nine blocks in the match.
Albright will lose Ozment, Higgins, Nicodemus, and
Jill Bonitatibus to graduation.
