SELINSGROVE, Pa. – On day one of the Susquehanna University Hampton Inn Crusader Classic, Albright volleyball (6-12) was defeated by the host Crusaders 3-0 and by the Profs of Rowan University by the final score of 3-2 Friday evening at Houts Gymnasium.
In the first match, Susquehanna defeated the Lions 25-15, 25-17, and 25-13. Senior #
Danielle Ozment# paced the Lions offense with a match-high 11 kills. She also finished as the match's defensive leader totaling 13 digs in the three game match.

Casey McFadden# was right behind her with 11 digs, and senior setter #
Lauren Higgins# totaled 23 assists in the match.
Match number two was a true battle, as Albright went toe-to-toe with the Profs. In game one Rowan defeated Albright 29-27. The red and white came right back in game two and defeated their New Jersey opponent by the same score. Rowan then jumped out to a 2-1 lead following a 25-18 win in game three.
Moving into game four Albright once again battled back and edged Rowan 29-27 to force the decisive game five. Rowan eventually took the final game with 15-9 decision.
Having another standout performance in the five game match was Higgins who totaled 53 assists. The New York native now sits just 72 assists away from tying the all-time record at Albright of 2,326.
A total of three players finished in double-figures in kills against Rowan, with Ozment scoring 19, #
Alyssa Hoogendoorn# 11, and #
Laura van Bendegem# 10. Hoogendoorn also led Albright in total blocks with four.
Defensively Ozment totaled 30 digs in the five-game match. McFadden was second on the team with 25, followed by #
Morgan Heath# with 23, and Higgins with 22.
Volleyball will close out the Crusader Classic tomorrow afternoon when they take on Washington and Jefferson College at 1 p.m. and York College (Pa.) at 3 p.m.
