READING, Pa. - In their 2010 home opener the Lady Lions (0-1) dropped a tough 3-0 non-conference decision to local rivals Penn State Berks (1-0) Wednesday evening in the Bollman Center.

The Nittany Lions took the first game by the final score of 25-18. They then dominated the red and white in game number two defeating the Lady Lions 25-7. The third and final game was the toughest, as Albright nearly pulled it out in the end, but was unable to hang on dropping a 25-22 decision.

Despite the outcome, Wednesday's match proved to be a great test for the red and white. With interim head coach #Michael Marks# leading the way, the Lady Lions were able to see where they were as a whole. Amongst the team's standouts was sophomore #Alyssa Hoogendoorn# who recorded a team best five kills along with freshman #Christa Mantz#.

Senior #Danielle Ozment# recorded a team high nine digs, followed by #Erin Wentzel# who had eight. However the true downfall for the Lady Lions came in the errors column as the team recorded 19 on the evening.

Guiding Penn State Berks to their first victory of the 2010 season was the towering duo of Suzi Shelton and Amy Shelton. The sisters combined for 29 of the team's 43 kills respectively, and were only charged with one attack error each.

Glenda Ngo led the match with 18 assists and 15 digs. Right behind her on the defensive side of the ball was Katie Sostak who tallied 14 digs as well.

Volleyball returns to the Bollman Center this Saturday when they host Immaculata University at 11 a.m.
