Despite a spirited rally in the third game, the Albright College volleyball team fell 3-0 (25-12, 25-13, 25-22) to visiting Lebanon Valley College, Wednesday in the Bollman Center.
Trailing 24-15 and seemingly down and out in the third set, the Lions suddenly went on a 7-0 run that electrified a solid Bollman crowd.
Junior 
Alyssa Hoogendoorn keyed the comeback attempt, with three blocks in a four-point span to pull Albright to within 24-22, before the Dutchmen recovered for the final clinching point.
Freshman 
Kyrsten Stanford had a nice kill to make it 24-18 before Hoogendoorn took over. The rookie totaled a team-high eight kills for the match.
Hoogendoorn added six kills, while sophomore 
Christa Mantz had six kills, 16 digs and 31 receptions. 
Morgan Heath served up 18 assists.
Albright went down 11-4 early in game one. Stanford had a nice kill, before Mantz's fantastic diving punch dig was negated by LVC's 
Kasey Musselman's kill.
The Lions' 
Casey McFadden appeared to have made a fantastic, full-extension dig late in the set, but the ball was called down and Lebanon Valley continued to pull away for a 25-12 win.
It was more of the same in game two, despite Mantz's ace to begin the set. LVC ran off seven straight points early, and went on a devastating 13-2 run that put them up 13-4 in the game.
Albright attempted to rally, with two Mantz kills pulling them to within 16-12. It was as close as they would get, as LVC finished the game on a 9-2 run, highlighted by several high-flying kills from top hitter 
Jamie Hawk.
The Lions fall to 7-16, 2-3 and will face Philadelphia Biblical and Centenary in a tri-match on Saturday in Philadelphia.
