The Albright College women's volleyball team won a thrilling third set in a 3-0 sweep of Centenary on Saturday at Philadelphia Biblibal, before losing to the hosts by the same scoreline.
The Lions won 3-0 (25-22, 25-20, 28-26) over Centenary. Senior
Laura van Bendegem led the team in both kills (seven) and total blocks (four), while hitting .438.
Also contributing with key blocks were
Christa Mantz and
Alyssa Hoogendoorn (three block assists each). Sophomore
Morgan Heath added 14 assists, three service aces and five digs.
Jelana Markovic led Centenary with nine kills and had an impressive 11 service aces.
Albright couldn't keep its momentum going in the nightcap, getting swept by Philly Biblical. The Lions (8-17) will host Messiah on Tuesday, where seniors
Meg Wheeler and van Bendegem will be honored.
