Box Score
The Albright College volleyball team couldn't recover from a 28-26 loss in game two as the Lions were swept 3-0 (25-18, 28-26, 25-17), Thursday at Immaculata.
Albright battled back from a 20-16 deficit in a second game that was tied six times. A kill from
Alyssa Hoogendoorn and then two straight by
Christa Mantz made it 20-19 before Immaculata finally broke Albright's serve.
After a Mighty Mac service error, Mantz took advantage with an ace to tied the game at 22-all. Immaculata registered the next two points to bring the Lions to the brink, but committed a pair of errors to tie the game up at 24-24.
The Lions edged into the lead on
Morgan Heath's kill, but Immaculata scored three straight to finally end the marathon set.
Mantz led Albright with eight kills and 11 digs, while freshman
Marisa Bartone had six kills in her first significant action of the season. Heath had 25 assists and junior
Alexa Jones added 12 digs.
The Lions are 8-19 and travel to Lycoming on Tuesday where a Commonwealth playoff spot could be on the line. An Albright win and an Elizabethtown loss to Arcadia the next day will put the Lions in the playoffs. An Albright win coupled with an Etown victory would create a three-way tie for the final spot.
