The Albright College men's swimming team swept the top three places in four of the first five events en route to a 154-78 victory, Thursday at Cabrini.
In the 200 medley relay
Adam Kurtz,
Sam Rosenthal,
Drew Leahy and
Mike McBride won, just .17 seconds ahead of teammates Steve Thomas,
Josh Park,
Tim Pierce and
Ralph Porrazzo.
After
Quentin Hicks,
Richard Edwards,
Bobby McNair and
Mike Sloboda took third to complete the relay sweep,
Chris Longworth and
Scott Mermelstein went 1-2 in the 1000 free.
Albright followed that up with a trio of 1-2-3 finishes, starting with
Rick Sutton,
Zach McElheny and
Sean Spellacy in the 200 free.
Porrazzo (26.05), Thomas and Hicks then swept the 50 back, and Park, Rosenthal and
Brad Epstein swept the 50 breast.
Only Cabrini's
Evan Strickland could break up the Lion dominance, winning both the 100 fly and 100 free, sandwiching a McBride-McNair one-two punch in the 50 free.
Following Strickland's second victory, Albright went 1-2 in the next three races. Sutton (57.60) was followed by Hicks in the 100 back, Park (1:04.23) and Epstein led the 100 breast and McElheny (5:12.70) and
Matt Bauer took the top two places in the 500 free.
Kurtz had the best time in the 50 free (25.03) but at that point Albright was swimming exhibitions with the meet wrapped up.
The Lions win their fifth straight meet to improve to 5-1 and will host MAC opponent Messiah on Saturday.
