Facing one of its biggest rivals in the race for this year's MAC championship, the Albright College women's swimming team saw an eight-meet winning streak ended in a 143-119 loss, Saturday at Misericordia.
The Lions fell behind immediately with the Cougars taking the top two places in the opening 200 medley relay, but rallied right back as
Amanda Osterlind (11:08.94) and
Liz Muller (11:36.00) went 1-2 in the 1000 free.
In the 200 free, senior
Aimee Snyder won in 2:00.59, with freshman
Gwen Stefan (2:04.95) taking third.
Misericordia surged ahead with three straight event wins, although
Kaitlyn Huizing (100 back) and
Madison Hauk (200 fly) managed second place finishes during that run. Sophomore
Codi Herr got Albright back on track with consecutive victories in the 50 free (25.08) and 100 free (54.97).
The Lions have been outstanding in the freestyle events all season, and took the top-two place in the 500 free through Osterlind and Stefan. It wasn't enough to catch the Cougars however, despite Snyder's late victory in the 200 IM (2:16.57).
Albright is 8-2 overall, and 5-1 against MAC opposition. The Lions will look to get back on track when they host Elizabethtown on Tuesday.
