Box Score
In a crazy game in Chester, Pa., the Lions couldn't complete a comeback attempt and fell 4-2 to Widener on Wednesday night.
A wild encounter featured a 3-0 lead after less than eight minutes and a pair of penalty kicks, including one chance that was initially saved but ended up in the goal anyways.
The Pride were lethal on set pieces in the game, and were up three goals by the eighth minute of play.
Tori Remondelli opened the scoring by heading in
Joe Brydges' free kick, three minutes in.
It was 2-0 after another Brydges set piece found
Eric Bihlear. His shot was blocked by a defender but Malik Krcic was there to finish the rebound. At the 7:18 mark, Widener went ahead 3-0 on
Troy Czapor's header.
The Lions fought back however, and got within strike distance after a pair of penalty kicks. Albright was awarded its first penalty just 52 seconds before halftime and junior
Tyler Waters slotted it home.
Albright was awarded another penalty in the 69th minute and
Shawn Murphy was saved, but
Kenny Horning beat everyone to rebound and crossed it back to Murphy, who made amends with a goal that pulled his team within one.
The Lions couldn't keep momentum however, as Widener converted on another set piece, this time a long throw, less than two minutes after Albright's tally.
The Lions fall to 8-8, 2-4 and will host Stevenson on Homecoming Saturday.
