The Albright College volleyball team inched closer each set, but couldn't pull ahead in a 3-0 sweep at the hands of Lebanon Valley, Tuesday in Annville, Pa.
The Lions ultimately fell 3-0 (25-16, 25-20, 25-22), remaining winless in Commonwealth Conference play.
Junior
Morgan Heath had 18 assists to lead the Lions, while senior
Casey McFadden had 13 digs.
Sophomore
Brandy Blimline had a team high five kills (on just eight attempts). Senior
Alyssa Hoogendoorn, junior
Christa Mantz, and sophomore
Marisa Bartone all totaled four kills and two assisted blocks each.
Albright led as late as 13-12 in game one, but LVC ran off seven of the next eight points to pull away. The Lions were closer in the second set, pulling to within 23-20 on a Heath kill before the Dutchmen closed with two conseutive points.
Blimline's kill made it 7-1 Albright in the third game, as the Lions ran off five straight points with Hoogendoorn serving. Hoogendoorn later had an ace to keep the Red and White up 17-16, and Bartone's kill made it 18-17 Lions. Albright couldn't hold on however, with LVC going on a 5-1 run to turn things around.
Albright falls to 5-11, 0-6 on the season. LVC goes to 13-12, 4-3, and earned a huge Senior Day win in the race for a playoff spot.
