At Widener University, the Albright College women's swim team was defeated 106-99, in a meet that was full of tight races.
The Lady Lions picked up four individual wins today, with junior
Codi Herr securing the first place spot in the 100-free (54.77) and the 50-Free(25.37), while sophomore
Amanda Osterlind continued her streak in the mile event (18.39.94) and also placed second in the 400-IM (5:04.44).
Sophomore
Kaitlyn Huizing came up big in touching out Widener's Annie Walker for the win in the 100-yard backstroke (1:03.34).
Sophomore
Gwen Stefan also had a good day claiming second in both of her events to 200 free and the 500 free, going 2:03.97 and 5:32.60, respectively.
The 50-free proved to be a fight with Herr claiming the top stop and then sophomore
Adina Gaughran clocked in with a time of 26.86, good enough for third place and junior
Tricia Janowiak came in shortly after (27.02) claiming fourth place, critical for the Lions.
Going into the last two events Widener needed just down just 7 points and needed to place well in the 100 breaststroke and the last 400 freestyle relay win the meet.
The 100 breaststroke came down to the last second where second-fourth place was a separated by less than a second. Albright sophomore
Lauren Cormier inched ahead of the Widener contender to pick up the second place spot (1:13.06). Cormier also placed well for the Lions in the 100-free placing third.
Albright then needed to go 1-2 in the relay to come out on top.
Herr, Huizing, Janowiak, and Stefan made up the first place relay team (3:47.85), but the Pride picked up the second place spot securing their victory.
The Lady Lions travel to Ursinus College on Wednesday and are back home on Saturday, November 10, hosting Arcadia University.
