For the third time this season, the Albright College volleyball team went to a tightly-contested fifth set and lost, losing 3-2 to Alvernia on Wednesday.
The Crusaders took the 3-2 (25-20, 23-25, 25-22, 16-25, 16-14) decision, in Albright's third Commonwealth Conference contest of the season.

Alyssa Hoogendoorn continued her outstanding hitting, with 19 kills and an attack percentage of .316 on 38 attempts. She also added seven total blocks. Junior
Christa Mantz added 13 kills and classmate
Erin Wentzel had 47 assists. Senior
Casey McFadden dug 37 balls on the day.
Albright fought from five down in the fifth and final set to tie at 13-13 and 14-14, both after kills from Hoogendoorn. Alvernia won the next two points however, with
Brittanie Wolfe providing the deciding kill.
It was the third time in seven matches that Albright had gone five sets, with at least one set going to extra points. The Lions lost the fifth set of their season opener vs. Dickinson 17-15, and later lost in five games to Penn State-Altoona despite winning the opening set 28-26.
With their backs to the wall, the Lions ran away with the fourth set, 25-16. Down 6-4, Albright tied it on kills from Mantz and Heath.
Brandy Blimline's kill made it 17-11, and Albright ended up with the nine-point set victory after a kill from Hoogendoorn.

Albright falls to 1-6, 0-3 and will travel to King's on Saturday.
