Results
The Albright College women's swim team defeated fellow MAC contender Misericordia on Saturday, winning 144-117 in the Natatorium.
After the Lions lost the opening 200 medley relay, they swept the 1650 free. Pool record-holder
Amanda Osterlind won going away in 18:32.11, and was followed by teammates
Liz Muller (18:53.42) and Allison Peters (19:44.22).
Osterlind came right back in the next event and placed second in the 200 free (2:03.07). Teammate
Gwen Stefan won, in 2:03.07.
Kaitlyn Huizing was second in the 100 back (1:04.63). The Cougars also won the 100 breast, with
Lauren Cormier (second, 1:10.46) and
Kari Keller (1:11.34) placing well for the Red and White,
Codi Herr took the 200 fly, in 2:15.17. In the 50 free, Stefan (26.71) and
Amanda Fisher (26.94) grabbed the top two places for Albright.
Herr won again in the 100 free (55.43), with Fisher placing second for the second consecutive event.
Huizing was second in the 200 back (2:21.08), and then Keller was second in the 200 breast as Misericordia won two straight races to pull within 11 points.
Needing a win, Stefan (5:23.86) and Osterlind (5:27.15) came up with a big 1-2 in the 500 free to put the Lions in control. Herr extended the lead with a victory in the 100 fly (59.94).
Herr, Fisher, Cormier and Stefan finished off the win with a first place finish in the 200 free relay (1:43.28).
The Lions (8-3, 6-1) will travel to Elizabethtown on Tuesday night. Then next Saturday they host King's on Senior Day, where Fisher,
Madison Hauk, Keller,
Emily Summers and
Emily Weaver will be recognized.
