Results
The Albright women's swimming team had a spectacular day in the Natatorium where they defeated the Monarchs of King's College, 151-97 on Senior Day.
During the meet the Lions took first place in 11 out of 14 events including four 1-2-3 finishes throughout the contest.
The Lions were off to a great start, claiming first (
Tricia Janowiak,
Lauren Cormier,
Madison Hauk, and
Amanda Fisher) and second place (
Kaitlyn Huizing,
Kari Keller,
Danielle Hassard, and
Gwen Stefan) in the 200 medley relay.
The first sweep came in the 200 freestyle when
Codi Herr (2:00.81), Stefan (2:05.20) and Fisher (2:12.12) touched consecutively to put the Lions out ahead early.
Later on Herr lead another sweep in the 100 freestyle with Hauk and Stefan following suit.
The Lions also went 1-2-3 in the 50 freestyle lead by Janowiak with Fisher touching second and
Adina Gaughran coming in third.
Janowiak also took first place in the 200 backstroke with at time of 2:19.52.
The final sweep of the meet consisted of Keller, Cormier, and
Emily Summers taking control of the 200 breaststroke, finishing 1-2-3 respectively.
Sophomore
Liz Muller was also a double-winner, claiming first place in both the 500 freestyle (5:33.31) and the 200 butterfly (2:25.15).
The Lions honored five seniors in their last meet at the Albright Natatorium. The 2012-13 seniors were Keller, Fisher, Summers, Hauk, and
Emily Weaver.
The meet was especially meaningful for Keller, whose parents traveled across the country from Renton, Washington to surprise her for her senior meet. This was the first time her parents had seen Keller race at Albright.
The Lions travel to Selinsgrove to take on the Susquehanna Crusaders next Saturday for the last meet of the regular season.
