Box Score
The Albright College volleyball team dropped a second consecutive five-setter, losing at Penn State-Altoona on Friday night.
After losing a heartbreaker to Widener on Tuesday in the Bollman Center, Albright was beaten 3-2 (25-21, 22-25, 25-17, 20-25, 15-11) by Altoona.
Christa Mantz and
Maddy Greth each had 12 kills for Albright, while Mantz added 13 digs.
Setter
Morgan Heath had 13 digs and 39 assists, while libero
Caitlin Klotzbach added 18 digs.
Usually a solid blocking team, Albright totaled just one block across all five games- a solo stop by Heath.
Heath's block closed out game four, as she rejected
Amanda Hammer to force a fifth and final set.
Mantz' kill kept the Lions close at 4-3 in game five, and an Altoona attack error later made it 6-5. The hosts ran off three straight points however, forcing an Albright timeout.
The Lions rallied, tying the game at 11-11 on
Marisa Bartone's kill. It was the final point they would score however, as Penn State-Altoona grabbed the final four tallies to clinch the match.
Albright falls to 10-15 on the year, and will host Central Penn College on Tuesday. Mantz and Heath will be recognized on the Lions' Senior Day.
