The Albright College volleyball team gave first-place Lebanon Valley all they could handle Tuesday, in an eventual 3-1 loss in the Bollman Center.
The Lions couldn't finish off game point in the third set, and dropped a 3-1 (20-25, 25-20, 27-25, 11-25) scoreline.
Junior
Brandy Blimline was hitting .667 through three sets, and still finished with 14 kills to just three errors (.478). As a team, the Lions hit .360 in game one and .308 in game three, but were at .000 in the other two sets.
LVC setter
Kasey Musselman had 34 assists, but also attacked the Lions with unassisted dumps all day and hit .615 with 10 kills. Freshman
Greta Weidemoyer had 13 kills and a .407 attack percentage.
Albright trailed 24-19 in game three, but freshman
Maddy Greth went to serve and had consecutive aces. Another great serve led to Mantz' block, and Blimline tied it at 24-24 with an unassisted kill. The Lions stretched their run to 6-0 and took the lead, but LVC responded for a tough 27-25 Lion loss.
After
Kyrsten Stanford (seven total blocks) and Mantz combined for a block to tie game one at 6-6, Mantz had consecutive service aces. Blimline then added two straight kills to push the Lions ahead 16-10.
Blimline converted a tough cross-court kill to make it 24-20, with Stanford and
Marisa Bartone's block closing out the first set.
Morgan Heath's ace then gave Albright a 13-11 lead in game two, but the Dutchmen took over late in the set.
Albright falls to 8-11, 1-5 on the season, while LVC (20-3, 6-0) remains atop the Commonwealth Conference standings.
