Results
The Albright College women's swimming team grabbed another emphatic Middle Atlantic Conference victory, beating visiting Elizabethtown 143-107 in the Natatorium.
Junior
Amanda Osterlind won the 1650 free with a time of 18:34.60. Classmate
Gwen Stefan followed that up with a win the 200 free (2:01.74), ahead of Lion rookie
Sam Hand (2:06.45).
Albright swept two races in a three-event span, going 1-2-3 in the 100 back with
Tricia Janowiak (1:03.52),
Madeline Hudson (1:07.67) and Osterlind (1:09.30).
The Lions lost the 100 breast, but followed with a sweep in the 200 fly. Leading the charge was
Julia Barry (2:22.62),
Danielle Hassard (2:32.55) and
Melanie Roy (2:34.33).
Elizabethtown's
Becky Lane set a new Blue Jay school record in the 50 free (24.94). She was then beaten by Herr in the 100 free however, 54.02 to 55.10.
Junior
Kaitlyn Huizing (2:21.26) and Hudson (2:25.03) went 1-2 in the 200 back.
Junior
Lauren Cormier won the 200 breast (2:42.31), with Osterlind coming in second place. Stefan then took first place in the 500 free (5:25.75).
The Lions were swimming exhibitions late but had the top times in the 100 fly (Herr, 59.17) and 200 IM (Barry, 2:24.42).
Albright also touched first in the closing 400 free relay, with a team of
Erika McEnany, Roy, Osterlind and Hand (3:42.15). Huizing, Cormier, Barry and Stefan (4:14.84) had won the 400 medley relay, with Janowiak, Hudson, Roy and
Adina Gaughran placing second.
The Red and White improve to 7-1, 6-0 on the season, and will take a break from competition until after the New Year.
