The Albright College volleyball team was swept at Immaculata on Wednesday, losing 3-0 (25-23, 25-18, 25-18).
Freshman
Maddy Greth had a team-high seven kills, while senior
Christa Mantz had six kills and 17 digs.
Juniors
Brandy Blimline and
Kyrsten Stanford were solid in the blocking game, combining for three block assists.
Down just 7-6 in game one after a Greth kill, and 8-7 following a
Marisa Bartone spike, the Lions fell behind by four after an Immaculata run (culminating in a
Brittany Thompson ace).
Morgan Heath responded with an ace on Albright's next serve, but the Mighty Macs soon opened a 20-15 advantage. Trailing 24-20, Mantz and
Jordan Gibson had kills as the Lions pulled to within one before
Brittany Holland grabbed game point.
Game two went a bit differently as the Lions led 7-4 following a Greth service ace and Mantz kill. Another Mantz kill made it 11-7 Albright.
The Lions couldn't hold on late however as Immaculata blew open a 16-16 game with a 7-1 run, including consecutive kills from
Jamie Rombach to make it 23-17.
The Red and White never led in game three, as the hosts were able to close out a sweep.
Albright is 2-7 on the season, and will host Gwynedd-Mercy and King's in a tri-match on Saturday.
