Box Score
The Albright men's soccer team and the University of Scranton played to a 0-0 draw in a saturated hard-fought match, which failed to see a dry minute of weather.
The Lions and Royals played scoreless first half soccer in a defensive battle in which Scranton dominated the time of possession, yet neither team had a shot on goal.
Albright's strong defensive stand was led by
Austin Marich,
Chris Bucks,
Anthony Daub,
Keegan Frick,
Brad Wood, and goalkeeper
David Oram who made a stellar, finger-tip save, on a Scranton corner kick midway through the half.
Five minutes into the second half, Vitale Zaluha sent a lob pass over the Scranton defense to
Tyler Waters who sent a bullet just wide of the net, failing to break the tie.
With two minutes left in regulation, Scranton's
Michael Bergen couldn't get a foot on a fast crossing pass just in front of the net, prolonging the game's scoring drought.
Halfway through the first period of overtime, an enormous breakaway chance for Scranton was called back on a handball, continuing the deadlock.
The Lions' final attempt at winning the match came as Zaluha blasted a shot from outside the eighteen that was deflected wide by Scranton goalkeeper
Eric Hintz.
Despite not capturing a win, the Albright Lions had arguably their best defensive performance of the season tonight. The Lions held Scranton, a 2012 Elite Eight qualifier, to a scoreless game where each shot was heavily contested.
As a result of the draw, Albright's record goes to 4-2-1, while the Scranton Royals go to 4-0-3 on the season.
The Lions' next chance at victory will come Wednesday as they host Cabrini College at 7 p.m.
