Results
The Albright College men's swimming team became the first Division III team to defeat upstart Hood College this season, with a 167-95 victory in Frederick, Md.
Hood had entered the day with a 7-0 record against Middle Atlantic Conference competition. The Blazers were 9-1 overall, with their only defeat coming to Division I Towson University.
Hood took first place in the 1000 free, 100 breast, 200 breast, 500 free and 100 fly, but the defending MAC champions still won nine of the day's 14 events.
Ralph Porrazzo,
Ken Richardson,
Alex Bauer and
Matt Runtas opened the day with a victory in the 200 medley relay (1:40.64).
Bauer would win the 50 free (22.76) and then go back-to-back and place second overall in the 100 free.
Mike McBride won in 50.51 and
Richard Edwards completed the Albright sweep.
Albright would go 1-2-3 in the 200 fly (
Mitch Cain,
Rick Sutton,
Matthew Rein) and 200 IM (Richardson,
Stephen Thomas,
Sam Rosenthal).
Porrazzo would place first in two events- the 100 back (54.45) and 200 back (2:01.62). McBride won the 200 free (1:50.06).
Porrazzo, Runtas, McBride and Edwards closed the meet by touching first in the 400 free relay, in 3:23.94.
The Lions stay perfect at 9-0, 7-0 and will travel to rival Misericordia next Saturday.
