READING, Pa. – The Albright women's swimming team opened its home schedule by capturing the first five events en route to a 115–88 victory over Lycoming Saturday afternoon at The Natatorium.
Before the meet began there was a ceremony in memory of sophomore Matthew Rein who passed away tragically in a fire in September. Rein was a member of the Albright men's swim team.
The Lions improved to 2-0 on the year swam to victory in the 400 medley to start the meet with a quartet of
Kaitlyn Huizing,
Julie McNeil,
Lauren Cormier and
Gwen Stefan touching the wall in 4:19.50. The team of
Madeline Hudson,
Lily Ritter Danielle Hassard and
Adina Gaughran placed third in 4:32.21.
Danielle Loiseau and Lexi Follweiller took the top two spots in the 100-yard butterfly for Lycoming in its first meet of the season.
Amanda Osterlind was victorious in both the 500 and 1000-yard freestyle. The senior was the first to stop the clock in 11:04.03 in the 1000 followed by teammates
Liz Muller who finished in 11:33.14 and
Sam Hand who touched in 11:51.03.Osterlind time in winning the 500 freestyle was 5:27.72, while Hand placed third in 5:50.11.
Stefan added to her relay triumph by picking up the win in the 200 freestyle in 2:02.4. Gaughran was victorious in the 50 freestyle racing to a time of 26.64 with McNeil placing third in 27.06.
Muller took the title in the 200 IM in a time of 2:23.03, while Hudson came in third in 2:30.54.
Huizing captured the backstroke in 1:04.99.
Cormier was the winner n the 200 breaststroke in 1:13.94 with Ritter in third at 1:17.77. The Lions captured second, third and fourth in the 100 freestyle.
Albright is at Widener next Saturday at 1 p.m.
